Quality and Safety

  • Safety Audits

PT SGI understands the importance of regular safety audits which are conducted by external safety compliance organizations. In April of 2013, PT SGI invited AvLaw, a Sydney based organization that specializes in aviation safety training and education, consulting and auditing to conduct a BARS Audit for our Company. PT SGI attained BARS (Basic Aviation Risk Standard) accreditation following this audit.

Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) managed by the Flight Safety Foundation is a new audit program aimed at the resource sector and aviation organizations servicing the mining industry.

The purpose of the program is to increase the level of safety in flight operations by companies and aircraft operators through a rigorous audit model and the use of a risk based approach to the conduct of air operations. The audit program encompasses fixed and rotary wing operations, regularly scheduled, charter and special operations for short term and long term contracts. Current resource company Flight Safety Foundation members include BHP, Downer EDI, PT Freeport, Leighton, MMG, Morobe Mining, Newcrest, Rio Tinto, Shell, Vale, Xstrata and Anglo American Mining.
