The Bell 412 is a variant of the Bell 212 with the major difference being the composite four bladed main rotor system. Like the 212, the 412 is a multi role aircraft that can be configured to conduct passenger transport, external load, medical evacuation and Search & Rescue missions. The 4 bladed rotor system offers a smaller rotor diameter than the 212 and increased cruise performance
The 412 is powered by enhanced performance Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6T series “Twin-Pacs” made up of two coupled power turbines driving a common gearbox. Should one power section fail the remaining section enables the 412 to maintain cruise performance at maximum weight.
